Goodbye to my Chicken and Egg Necklace

The time has come to say goodbye to my chicken and egg necklace. No, I haven't sold it - I am taking it apart and recycling the parts...

I made it as my 'concept piece' for New Designers in June, and worked on it for at least 3 weeks. The idea came from the crackle shards which reminded me of egg shells, so I made eggs, then chickens...
The magnetic clasp is hidden inside some tubing, so it's invisible and when it's worn it forms a complete circle, so you never know which came first, the chicken or the egg. Very deep :-)
I was quite happy with it, it came out just as I had planned (well, after lots of trial and error...).

Anyway - it's too expensive to sell as a necklace, there is so much silver in there, not to mention the work. Each chicken was hand pierced, they are all slightly different, then each wing, which was also engraved.
The eggs were individually shaped and set, and the beads cut from tubing, or tiny soldered jump rings... You can imagine why it took so long.

So I will now make the chickens into earrings, some with eggs and some without. The tube beads will be used for bracelets, and I'm sure I'll find a use for the jump rings as well.

What came first?
