A Box of Treasures and some Green Faces

When my ex-husband came to pick up our son yesterday, his 6 year old blurted out that they would be spending the day in London, and it was a surprise. Since it's my birthday today, I thought they would be getting me a present, and that was very nice of them.

When they got back, they claimed they had spent the whole day on my present. I chuckled to myself, because it didn't make sense, but they were saying nothing...

Today I opened it - a big box of pottery shards that they had spent the day gathering on the Thames. A lovely surprise because new pieces always inspire new ideas...
This should keep me busy:

There were some really unusual pieces in there, it's very exciting! This piece is marbled on both sides, but the marbling is inside the clay - as you can just about see on the edge. I have done a little bit of research and it seems to be Victorian. I love it! Like some kind of very old Fordite!

Here are some of my faves:

And here is what I chose for myself at the 'Art in Clay' exhibition (thanks mum!):

  2. Happy Birthday and many more! Oh those are great finds, your boys did a wonderful job at treasure hunting. I love the gift you chose for yourself, it is very whimsical. The face with the tounge sticking out is just too cute.
