Sometimes I make sketches of ideas for jewellery, but most of the time I just play around with my materials and see what comes out. Connections happen that I would not have been able to plan.
Here is an example of what I mean. My entire collection (so far - I'll make more!) of the recycled Thames Glass cabochons, even those that didn't work out so well:
