A Box of Treasures and some Green Faces

When my ex-husband came to pick up our son yesterday, his 6 year old blurted out that they would be spending the day in London, and it was a surprise. Since it's my birthday today, I thought they would be getting me a present, and that was very nice of them.

When they got back, they claimed they had spent the whole day on my present. I chuckled to myself, because it didn't make sense, but they were saying nothing...

Today I opened it - a big box of pottery shards that they had spent the day gathering on the Thames. A lovely surprise because new pieces always inspire new ideas...
This should keep me busy:

There were some really unusual pieces in there, it's very exciting! This piece is marbled on both sides, but the marbling is inside the clay - as you can just about see on the edge. I have done a little bit of research and it seems to be Victorian. I love it! Like some kind of very old Fordite!

Here are some of my faves:

And here is what I chose for myself at the 'Art in Clay' exhibition (thanks mum!):

  1. Happy Birthday Tania!! I hope you have a wonderful day! What a nice surprise from your son, that is so sweet. They found some really great pieces!

  2. Happy Birthday and many more! Oh those are great finds, your boys did a wonderful job at treasure hunting. I love the gift you chose for yourself, it is very whimsical. The face with the tounge sticking out is just too cute.

  3. What thoughtful boys.
    Happy birthday!

  4. Happy birthday Tania and I love the treasure they brought you back :))

  5. Thanks so much to all of you, I've had a lovely day. 43 is not so bad so far :-)
