It may be hard to believe but it's very hard to find shards that are big enough to split into two for earrings. Most of the pieces I find are very tiny, and finding two of the same pattern is very rare, although it does sometimes happen. (I guess I just find different bits of the same broken vessel on different visits to the Thames...)
Anyway - this pair used one that was just big enough, and although the pattern is different you can still see they come from the same piece. I like how they turned out!
