Bottle Fair

I visited a bottle fair today. It was my second visit to such an event, and I'm already looking forward to the next one in October... It is one of the few places where you can see and even hold Bellarmine jars, outside of a museum.

This was one of the stands, and the seller very kindly told me everything he knew about my favourite pieces, even though they are way out of my price range. My absolute favourite obviously was the green one in the middle, that looks a bit like a goat.

Here it is in close-up - a very rare Satyr face apparently. I love him.

Another nice Bellarmine jug was this one, with a pleasant smiley face, perhaps a bit tired (or drunk) -

I also managed to date one of my pottery shards. This is a piece I have had for a while now:

I always hoped that it said 'clotted' and was part of a clotted cream pot, and when I saw this:

I knew that it was!
Made in 1895 - 1898. It was great to be able to date my shard.

I did buy a few doll's heads, I will try and make at least one of them into a pendant.
They are cute/eerie, and have a strange appeal.
Quite small, they measure about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches each.

  1. Where was the fair? I would really like to go to such a fair. Can you let me know details of the next one?
